When it comes to the laws of attraction, there are no rules The battle between the sexes is about to make these two lawyers hot under the collar. Opposites collide when two lawyers try to make partner at the same firm. Payton Kendall is a feminist to the bone. Cocky J.D. Jameson was born privileged. But when they’re asked to join forces on a major case, they gain a newfound awareness of each other’s personal assets. The partnership spot will be offered to only one of them, though. The competition heats up. Sparks fly. Let the games begin.

I have read Julies James’debut novel and I’ve really loved it so my expectations on her next novel is pretty high. And oh well, I must say that I really enjoyed Practice Makes Perfect. I guess my expectations were met to the highest level. I love it.

What makes this book interesting is the fact that the couple are both lawyers. I like how James described their world in detail. It really feels real. The characters are well-established. The readers can relate to them.

I like their word war. It’s pretty cute. It made me giddy. I like how they throw lines against each other. There is this part where Payton accidentally spilled coffee on J.D.’s coat and in return he cut  the heel of Peyton’s shoes. This caused Payton a humiliation in the court room but she handled it really well and she just laughed at herself. I really loved that part. It was so funny. I was practically laughing out loud and my mom was frowning at me wandering what I was laughing at.

You’ll never regret reading this book. It spells F-U-N. It has everything you want in a romantic comedy book.

Quotable Quotes

See, you just don’t understand women the way I do, J.D. They want it all: a career, apple martinis, financial independence, great shoes; But at the same time – and this they’ll never admit – they are drawn to patriarchal men who are dominant and controlling. That’s the essence of the Darcy complex. He may be an asshole, but he’s an asshole that gets the girl in the end.
